Desert Sands Motel is located at the southern end of the township of Tennant Creek and provides fully self-contained apartments. The vast area of the Barkly is home to many of Australia's premier cattle stations and Tennant Creek is the area of Australia's last gold rush. The area is rich in gold and other minerals with mining exploration still taking place today. With lovely leafy surrounds, barbecue facilities and children's playground, Desert Sands Motel offers a great stopover whilst touring the Northern Territory.
Enjoy a relaxing swim in the heated salt water pool after a long day of exploring. Dine at the local RSL not far from the motel. Desert Sands Motel caters for families of up to six people in the two room family units.
Visit the Nyinkka Nyunu cultural centre showcasing the story of the traditional Aboriginal owners, the Warumungu people, who still inhabit the area. Take a day trip south to Karlu Karlu/Devil's Marbles, a collection of huge granite boulders balanced on top of one another that glow fiery red at sunset. Just north of Tennant Creek, see another spectacular granite outcrop formation known as Kunjarra/The Pebbles.
