Kilcowera Station is situated between Thargomindah and Hungerford, about half way along the Dowling Track, in South West Queensland. Travellers by air or road are now able to visit the 94000 hectare property and enjoy the rangelands, lagoons, creeks, waterholes, gorges, caves and wildlife.
Guests can take the 60 kilometres self drive property tour and view the RAMSAR listed Lake Wyara which is on the eastern boundary. The lake and its associated wetlands are of international significance and are among the most important inland water bird habitats in Australia. The isolated Murderers’ Bore as featured by Evan McHugh in his book “Red Centre Dark Heart” will also be seen on the tour.
Accommodation is provided in clean, comfortable shearer’s quarters which can sleep 17. All linen is supplied. Bathroom facilities are outside and separate from the main building. Meals are available with advance bookings or you can bring your own supplies and cook for yourself in the fully equipped kitchen. Great hospitality, tours and camp oven cooking are our speciality. Campsites are also available in three separate camping grounds.
