The importance of the Barramundi Discovery Centre and hatchery may sometimes be overlooked with the focus on Karumba as a Mecca for recreational fishing - but what a fascinating place to visit. The centre operates as a tourist attraction as well as undertaking the serious side of breeding barramundi for release into the gulf river systems and impoundments. The hatchery is a registered charity and has been operational for 19 years.
