The Iron Pot Bay Vineyard is located at Deviot in northern Tasmania’s Tamar Valley.
Iron Pot Bay Vineyard was named for an adjacent bay, now known as West Bay. Established in 1988, the vineyard has several varieties of white grapes, including chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, sémillon, pinot gris, riesling and gewürztraminer. Crafted by winemaker Dr Andrew Pirie, the range of Iron Pot Bay Wines also includes pinot noir and the ‘Kyra’ sparkling chardonnay/pinot gris. Pioneers of Tasmanian unwooded white wines, Iron Pot Bay has produced crisp, fruit driven wines since the first vintage in 1991.
You can taste Iron Pot Bay wines at the cellar door by appointment. The vineyard’s tasting room, deck and terrace are located in a garden setting with views of the Tamar River.
The Tamar Valley is one of Tasmania’s premier wine regions. It’s cool climate, low altitude and mild, extended growing season is ideally suited to wine production.
Deviot is a 30-minute drive from Launceston (30 kilometres/18.6 miles), on the western bank of the Tamar River.
