Built in the mid 1930s, Jones Store is one of the oldest surviving structures in the historic town of Newcastle Waters. The store supplied services such as butchery, bakery and saddlery requirements.
During its operation, the Jones Store sold provisions to the drovers who moved cattle over the Murranji, Barkly and north-south stock routes, as the junction of these routes was Newcastle Waters.
After restoration work was carried out, Jones Store became a museum with displays depicting both the life of the outback drover and life in the Newcastle Waters area.
