Lanyon Homestead

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Lanyon Homestead is one of Australia’s premier historic properties. Set at the foot of the Brindabella Ranges on the banks of the magnificent Murrumbidgee River; you will enjoy gorgeous views of the Australian countryside during your visit. The precinct’s centrepiece, the 1859 Homestead, has been beautifully restored and furnished.

Enjoy a guided tour of the homestead and explore the outbuildings that made this pastoral property a showpiece in the region. Picnic in the garden with a view to the hills beyond the Murrumbidgee River or take a leisurely stroll through the rambling gardens surrounding the homestead. Share a meal or light snack at the Barracks Espresso Bar and Eating House.

School and other groups are also catered for with special packages available that include a guided tour with morning/afternoon tea, or lunch included. Function rooms and outdoor spaces are available for hire.

Lanyon Homestead is easily accessible and is only a twenty minute drive from Canberra’s city centre.
