Morven Rabbit Board Gate

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

In 1886, the Rabbit Fence was built to ‘rabbit proof’ Queensland, measuring 47 403kms.

The Rabbit Board Gate has been immortalized in the main street of Morven with the erection of the Leichhardt Rabbit Gate which stands east of the Dick Baker Shed.

This is one of the original gates from the Leichhardt Rabbit Board fence, from where it once crossed the Warrego Highway. Travellers had to stop, open, go through and close the gate to travel the highway.
