South Australian Maritime Museum

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Visit the South Australian Maritime Museum and track the voyages of navigators who charted unknown waters, seafarers who traded over the oceans and migrants who sailed into new lives.

The Museum’s exhibitions tell stories of our maritime history – from those who lived at sea and on shore, to the dolphins and marine ecosystems that make up our natural environment. Renowned for its innovative approach to maritime history and education, the Museum is located in two 1850s bond stores with three floors of permanent and special exhibitions.

Visit the Port Adelaide Lighthouse, just a short walk from the Museum, and inspect the vessels moored at McLaren Wharf – Steam Tug Yelta, launch Archie Badenoch and historic ketch, Falie.
