Explore the oldest remaining roundhouse in NSW and witness restoration works being carried out on tramway and railway exhibits at the Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum.
Take a short ride on a steam tram and view the model railway layout. Locomotives to see include the 32 class express passenger engine 3214 from the 1890s, Standard Goods 53 class Steam Engine 5461 and 46 Class Electric Locomotive 4601 as well as a 1890s Sydney steam tram. 5711 the only survivor of the heaviest steam locomotive class in NSW is under restoration at the museum.
See exhibits of rail artefacts and paintings, local history and photographic display plus a large collection of books, videos and souvenir items.
The museum is normally open the second and fourth Sunday of every month. Barbecue facilities are available or relax with a cup of tea or coffee and cake in the tea rooms.
