Boat Harbour has two small population centres – the town high above sea level and the small beach community below, nestled between rocky headlands.
The Boat Harbour beach is a popular tourist destination renowned for its clear blue water, gentle waves and white sand and is surrounded by rich green farming hillsides.
The family-friendly beach is ideal for swimming, snorkelling or diving. Keep an eye out for dolphins, seals and whales that occasionally enter the bay.
Nearby is Rocky Cape National Park with coastal walks that lead to sea caves and secluded beaches with sweeping views of Bass Strait.
The village is a 10-min drive (12 km) from Wynyard or a 25-min drive (30 km) from Burnie.
