Dover

Urban

Dover is the ideal spot for exploring Tasmania’s Southwest World Heritage Wilderness Area and the Hartz Mountains National Park.
This pretty, quiet fishing village with its attractive beaches and unspoilt scenery sits at the head of Esperance Bay overlooking the islands of Faith, Hope and Charity. Its quaint cottages and English trees give the town an old-world charm.
One of the most popular nearby attractions is Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs. Guided tours of the caves reveal their richly decorated dolomite caverns, while at the springs you’ll find a delightful, naturally heated outdoor pool fed by thermal springs with forest walking tracks and barbecue facilities.
Also nearby at Southport is the Ida Bay historic railway that will take you on a 14 km journey through wildflower-dotted bushland and coastal heath to a remote idyllic beach spot for lunch.
Dover has a number of good bed and breakfasts, a caravan park, hotel-motel and backpacker accommodation.
Dover is an 80-min drive (83 km) from Hobart.
