The 'Landmark Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft' is an annual event held on the June Long Weekend and is the biggest combined rodeo and campdraft in the Southern Hemisphere.
Each year cowboys and cowgirls along with spectators head across the central western plains of New South Wales to the edge of the Outback, transforming the Coonamble Showground into a full-on explosion of wild riding action. The cowboys launch from the chutes competing for prizes in steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and, of course, the glamour events of the Saddle Bronc, Bareback and Bull rides.
In addition to the events at the Rodeo arena the community holds additional events. Examples include Bush Poets Breakfast, Patchwork and Quilting Exhibition, live bands and other social events adding to the festival atmosphere. The Junior Rodeo on the Monday is a growing component.
