In this concert, ACO2, The Australian Chamber Orchestra’s regional touring and training ensemble, performs some of the best music for string orchestra from the Baroque, Romantic and contemporary eras. Bach’s sprightly Brandenburg Concerto No.3 is one of the most popular pieces in classical music. Handel’s Concerto Grosso is in the grand Baroque style. Dvorák’s Serenade, full of flowing melodies and wistful waltzes, is a delight. Meale’s Cantilena features a long, lyrical line for solo violin. Rising young British composer Tarik O’Regan has already received two Grammy nominations.
