August Occasion is an Annual Art Exhibition held at the C1872 Old Post Office Seymour. The two world recognised solo artists that feature each year alternate. Odd years - Paul Margocsy and even years Agnes Szetey.
Paul is internationally acclaimed for his watercolour/gauche Bird Paintings. In 2011 for the first time he exhibited African animal paintings in Seymour.
Agnes is known for her depictions, in oil, of the Australian bush and heritage.
The openings are held on the first Sunday in August at the Old Post Office Seymour where art and culture, history and heritage, wine and food all combine. An invitation is extended to attend the openings, chat around the open fire and enjoy a complimentary glass of local wine.
The Old Post Office Seymour is one of Central Regional Victoria's premier privately owned commercial Fine Art Galleries and was established in 1992. Only one hour from Melbourne, it offers something different, if not unique, that is truly Australian.
A constantly changing group exhibition of paintings by multi-award winning Australian Artists is always on exhibition. The quality of the work is only surpassed by the variety offered. Traditional to contemporary paintings, in all mediums, covering most subjects, are hung as if in your home. Displays of individual quality Australian made wildlife sculpture, art glass, jewellery, limited edition prints, woodwork and pottery are tastefully exhibited throughout the multi-roomed Gallery.
The restaurant, with its open fire, is centrally located. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the relaxed elegant ambience, choose a hearty meal or snack from the extensive menu or just browse the gardens and rooms, glass of Goulburn Valley or Strathbogie wine in hand.
The Old Post Office Seymour is home to Louise Barling and Garry Broderick, the owner operators. You are always made welcome at the Old Post Office Seymour.Visit Website
