Barbara Stuart’s new body of work ‘Look Up, Look Down’ has mainly been inspired by the transformation of the desert by all the rain in 2009. In 2009 Morris and Barbara took a flight from Coober Pedy to Lake Eyre believing that the amount of rain that had fell wouldn’t happen again in their lifetime.
Some of the photos that Barbara took during that flight have now been painted into pictures. With the rains continiuing for the next three years, has resulted in work emerging of the country and gorges around Alice Springs. Induced in the exhibition are several images depicting the night skies mixed with aboriginal and creation themes. Mediums used are oils and watercolours, the painting ranging from small to large.
