Campdraft - Gloucester
Come and enjoy the Campdraft at Gloucester Showground. Campdrafting involves a mounted rider, on a registered or unregistered stock horse, riding into a camp (corral or yard) which has up to eight cattle in it. The rider cuts out one steer from the group in the camp, proves to the judge that they have it under their control, then they call for the gate to be open. Next they proceed to draft (work) the beast around a figure of eight course in a larger arena. The rider then guides the steer through a gate (two pegs placed apart) and the campdraft is complete. This whole process usually last less than one minute with points awarded up to a maximum of 100.
