Minerama Fossicking and Gem Show

Minerama is run by a voluntary community committee with the aim of fostering all facets of the lapidary hobby. Well over 50 traders come to Minerama each year, with the larger commercial traders taking up space in the auditorium of the Services Club (RSL) and the smaller hobby traders setting up outside.

Everything connected with the lapidary hobby can be seen and bought here, such as: fossils, minerals, uncut and cut gems, jewellery, findings, machinery, grinders, sanders, tumblers, grits, polishes and books.

Food and drink are available inside the club as well as a barbeque and drink tent outside run by Minerama volunteers which becomes the social centre early in the evening when visitors gather to say hello and meet others of similar interests.

Stay for a few days and make the most of the different field trips on offer. Glen Innes district has in the past been a large tin and sapphire producer. Other minerals of note are quartz, both clear and smoky, bismuth, wolfram, beryl, topaz, zircon, garnet and arsenopyrite.
