Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival
The Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival, provides three days of live music designed to present a cross section of jazz and blues styles performed by the best musicians available. The aim is to provide a program containing “something for everyone”.
Staged in Bellingen, with its pristine river and historic streetscape, the Festival presents around 35 performances in 13 venues over three days. The venues included the Federal Hotel, the Memorial Hall, Church Street and the Bellingen Community Markets. The spread and diversity of these locations created variety and ensuring a vibrant, community atmosphere.
There is jazz on the pavement by the pub and in the park beside the council chambers, intimate jams in small cafés, a big band dance, cocktail party, and late night grooves in clubs. The hallmark event is on Sunday. ‘Jazz by the Riverside’ which brings thousands of people together to enjoy wonderful music and picnic on the banks of the Bellinger River.
Local eateries and organised food stalls provide a wide range of cuisine, adding an extra dimension to the day and encouraging people to stay in town for longer to enjoy the music.
