Ballina Shire Australia Day Celebrations
Australia Day Awards, Citizenship Ceremony and a variety of activities throughout the day.
Celebrate all that’s great this Australia Day!
Special breakfasts, morning teas, billy tea and damper, lunches, barbecues and dinners will be held throughout the Shire. A major celebration at Lance Ferris Park in Ballina will commence at 4.30pm, with entertainment in the Park courtesy of the Ballina Shire Concert Band.
The official Australia Day Ceremony commences at 5.30pm for awards and Citizenship Ceremony. It will include an appearance from this year’s Ballina Shire Council Ambassador, Rick Timperi, Atlanta Boxing Olympian (1996).
The awards to be given will include Citizen of the Year (over 21 years of age), Young Citizen of the Year (under 21 years of age), Sports Person of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
Other activities include a flag-raising ceremony with the TS Lismore Naval Cadets and the Ballina Scouts, Cubs and Joeys, live entertainment after the official ceremony (approximately 6.30pm) AND a Fireworks Spectacular proudly presented by the Ballina RSL Club.
