Southern Mountains Rally
This event starts and finishes in Eden, New South Wales on the weekend of 1st and 2nd November 2008.
The event will run as a traditional "moving” rally primarily for 2WD Historic and Classic rally cars travelling to Bombala with approximately 350 competitive kilometres. The event will be run in a very similar format to the Alpine Rally including adoption of the HRA Historic vehicle eligibility and classes.
As a guide the event will run over two days with 3 divisions, competitive distances approximately 180 kilometres, 85 kilometres and 85 kilometres respectively. Both Division 1 and 3 will be run in full daylight. The event will start on Saturday around 10.00am and conclude division 2 by 00:00. An early re-start on Sunday will see the rally finish by lunchtime to allow return travel home Sunday evening.
This region is arguably known as Australia’s Rallying Heaven! It is one of the most densely populated areas for available forestry rally roads in Australia boasting some of the best surfaces available in many varying terrains. Conditions are easy on the vehicles while maintaining a challenge for crews, ideal for HRA and AMSAG Historic and Classic cars.
