Lost Buddhas
The discovery of 400 stone Buddhist sculptures buried in a destroyed temple in Qingzhou, China has been considered to be one of the most significant archaeological finds of the 20th century in China. These works are amongst the most beautiful and most powerful early Chinese Buddhist sculptures dating from the 6th to the 9th century.
More than 30 of the best preserved and most exquisite sculptures will be on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. This will be the first time that these works have been seen in Australia.
This exhibition is in Sydney only.
