2009 Sydney New Years Eve
In the final, tension-filled seconds before midnight on December 31, Sydney becomes the New Year's Eve capital of the world - a billion eyes focus on the natural amphitheatre that is Sydney Harbour and its magnificent centre-piece, the steel arched Sydney Harbour Bridge, as, on the stroke of midnight, a fireworks display like no other heralds in the New Year.
Pre show entertainment starts from 5pm and activities intensify at sunset with the Indigenous Smoking Ceremony and Family Fireworks at 9pm, followed by the magical Harbour of Light Parade.
There are vantage points around the Harbour or get in quick to book your place on board one of the vessels taking part in the Harbour of Light Parade, where you will not only enjoy a front row seat for the fireworks but also uninterrupted views of all the action throughout the night.
