Lucia di Lammermoor - Donizetti - Opera Australia
In the chilly wastes of Scotland a nobleman plots to marry his sister Lucia to an English lord. Unfortunately, she longs to marry Edgardo, the exiled Laird of Ravenswood. Contracts are signed, vows are exchanged but, needless to say, the wedding does not go to plan.
Donizetti’s tale of Highland skullduggery returns to the stage with one of Australia’s leading sopranos. Emma Matthews, who makes her debut at Covent Garden in 2010, performs her role debut as Lucia di Lammermoor at the Sydney Opera House. Be thrilled by her pure, agile voice as it soars through this ultimate bel canto role. And be swept away by the sensational cast including Eric Cutler as Edgardo, José Carbó as the evil Enrico, Richard Anderson as Raimondo and, to conduct, Maestro Richard Bonynge.
