Harts Range Bush Sports Weekend
The Harts Range Bush Sports Weekend is a great family outback event.
200 kilometres north east of Alice Springs on the Plenty Highway is the home of the annual Harts Range Bush Sports Weekend. This action-packed event starts off Saturday morning with a gymkhana. Lunchtime sees the first running of the Harts Range Races - unregistered horse races for local station riders. In the afternoon there are two more races, the first round of the bull ride and saddle bronc. As the sun sets, the popular ute competition hits off followed by a black tie dance.
Sunday morning is for the kids with running races, a lolly scramble, sack races, high jump and tug-o-war. The afternoon is the local bull riders, saddle broncs and teams of three attempting to catch and brand three calves in record time, there is also a 'whip cracking' and 'wild cow milking' competition. Sunday night there is a dance and talent quest. Camping facilities, showers and toilets are available.
