Katherine Festival

Join in the vibrant celebration of art and culture at the Katherine Festival.

The Katherine Festival, previously called the Flying Fox Festival, is held in Katherine and incorporates a variety of community events over two weeks. The events have included art and craft awards, a street parade, exhibitions, workshops, Chinese Dragon Boat races on Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk), flying fox walk and talk, markets, a fishing competition and plenty of live entertainment.

Indigenous song, dance, music and art is on show via well-known Northern Territory bands, traditional and contemporary dance, art, craft and bush tucker stalls, and screenings of local films. The art exhibition showcases the talent of local residents with the opening on Monday and general viewing over the following week.

Note - some workshops and venues may incur an entry charge.
