Pine Creek Goldrush
Step back in time at the annual Pine Creek Goldrush weekend. It's hard to resist the appeal of panning for an elusive gold nugget and dancing under a starry sky.
If this sounds appealing, then head down to Pine Creek for the Goldrush Festival. The weekend kicks off Friday night with the opening and announcement of the winner of the 2009 Pine Creek Art Prize at the Old Station Master's House. One of the major highlights is the annual gold-panning championships, which are held on the banks of the creek at the bottom of Miners Park on Saturday.
Gold is not the only attraction however, with festivities, a damper-making competition, nugget hunt, food and bar stalls and much more. Another highlight of the festival is the free concert held on the Saturday night, in the Miners Park, by the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, a evening of entertainment for all the family.
Accommodation in Pine Creek is limited, so please come prepared to camp or stay with friends.
