Queensland Youth Symphony - Shostakovich 5 will be held at the QPAC concert hall, which is located at South Bank, this June. The Queensland Youth Symphony (QYS) presents the world premiere of ‘Tropic’ by Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe AO, in the orchestra's international tour farewell concert on Saturday 7 June at QPAC. Titled Shostakovich 5, the farewell concert also features the orchestra's own principal French horn soloist Kerry Thomas playing Richard Strauss's Horn Concerto Number 1, Vaughan William's masterpiece for strings, Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis, and Shostakovich's extraordinary fifth Symphony.
