Annual Convention Of The Wide Bay Burnett Potters Association
The 33rd Annual Convention of the Wide Bay Burnett Potter’s Association will be held in Childers this year and will be hosted by the local pottery group, the Firehouse Potters Incorporated.
The conference features a welcome barbecue on the Friday night, followed by two days of tutorials and demonstrations by local and interstate potters.
The major tutor this year is Northern New South Wales potter Catherine Lane, who will demonstrate her throwing, turning and joining techniques with a variety of forms such as tall necked bottles, footed compotes, candelabra and vases. Some of these lend themselves to modelled additions, which will be demonstrated and they will be decorated on day two making use of hot wax in some of the decoration.
Other conference events and activities include a dinner on Saturday evening, accompanied by an auction and local entertainment.
