Bundaberg World Enviroment Day

The theme for this year's International United Nations World Environment Day celebration is CO2 - Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Bundaberg will be holding their own celebration entitled Bundaberg World Environment Day Celebration in keeping with the United Nations Celebration Day.

On Sunday 1 June, SustainaBundy, Bundaberg Landcare, Bundaberg Community Development, the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland Bundaberg Branch, the Hinkler Burnett Greens, the Bundaberg Community Garden Committee and other organisations in the region will celebrate with outdoor food and product stalls, live local entertainment and free workshops and demonstrations on everything from composting to solar cooking.

Inside they'll have speaker presentations, question and answer sessions and film screenings. Potential companion events are also being organised, such as student debates on sustainability issues, a bicycle parade and a tree planting to offset emissions from the celebrations.
