This is a true, touching and wonderfully funny stage show. Shirley Valentine is about a slightly older woman kicking up her heels (for good as it turns out) of British ignorance and insularity. Glenda Linscott who starred in Prisoner and Murder Call plays the lead role. Shirley Valentine is all about escape from a humdrum life. The play manages to say something serious in a way that makes audiences fall over laughing. It takes the form of a monologue by a 42 year old Liverpool mother and housewife, before and after a transforming holiday to Greece.
