The author of the famous children's book 'Mary Poppins' was born in Maryborough, and the City celebrates with a fun filled day for both adults and kids called Mary Poppins Market Day. Mary Poppins Market Day is a great time to visit the city with Mary Poppins characters, face painting, childrens ride and free street entertainment. There is plenty of entertained with childrens activities on the City Hall Green and the parents can browse the many stalls in the street. On the Friday Night in the Mary River Parklands there is a Mary Poppins Sing-a-long Movie night with a Mary Poppins Festival in the Park on the Sunday.
