Threatened Species Week

Threatened Species Week and the Bilby Festival is a week long of activities held in Charleville, Queensland. The week is dedicated to Threatened Species and incorporates the National Bilby Festival. This is the anniversary of the death of the last Tasmanian tiger in captivity on the night of 7 September and was declared Threatened Species Day. Each year people can reflect on what has happened to this species and what could happen if we do not take action to stop the decline of other species, which already are heading for the same fate as the Tasmanian tiger.

Threatened Species Week and the Bilby Festival encourage all people to join in the fun and educational activities the week entails. It is to raise awareness not just for the bilbies but any threatened species in Australia.
