Historic Leyburn Motor Sprints
On 23 and 24 August, the village of Leyburn is completely taken over by local and interstate racing drivers, their friends and family, and spectators for the Historic Leyburn Motor Sprints. This tiny town of 300 swells to in excess of 15,000 people every August for two days of 'racing', showcasing some of the finest historic racing vehicles in the country.
A commemoration of Queensland's first ever Australian Grand Prix, which was held at Leyburn in 1949, this annual two day event treats enthusiasts to an array of sprint racing classes including open wheelers and sports cars, as they wind their way around the houses and through the heart of the country hamlet of Leyburn.
The Leyburn Sprints offers a friendly, rural, family atmosphere with stalls, entertainment, camping and a variety of delicious food on offer.
There will be a new track for this year's event.
