Reelmad 24 Hour Film-Making Festival
The Reelmad 24 Hour Film-Making Festival emerged from event creators' 17 year old daughter's loss of a friend to suicide, which sparked their needs to do something positive for the community and its young people. They came up with the idea of running a 24 hour film festival whereby entrants are given 24 hours to write, shoot and edit a film, and the organisers have 24 hours to view, shortlist and present the winning entries at a gala event. It's Reelmad!
The primary aim was to encourage the imaginations and filmmaking skills of young people in the area in a positive environment while at the same time raise funds and awareness for the Prevention of Youth Suicide (funds raised support a youth project called 'Head High - Living Beyond Suicide').
