Women Gather - NAIDOC Art Exhibition at the Ardleigh Cleveland Gallery - Hyatt Regency Coolum and Curated by Sandra Conte.
NAIDOC event to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 'Women Gather' is curated by Sandra Conte and presents 13 stunning Indigenous Australian art works by seven Aboriginal artists from all over Australia, representing various communities, are gathered together to acknowledge the importance of the universal perspective on the 'gathering' role.
Sandra Conte said "Women have traditionally gathered in different ways, in different societies; they gather together in meetings through both unofficial and formalised networks; in many parts, they also gather food for the sustenance of their communities. All works by the six female and one male artist are recognition of the power of these roles and testimony to the importance of women gathering".
