Tropical Writers Festival

The Tropical Writers Festival celebrates writers of the Tropical North of Australia. The region of the Great Barrier Reef has long had the reputation of attracting people who are creative and free thinking. The Festival hosts visiting authors James Phelan and Barbara Hannay. The workshops cover Speculative Fiction, putting the Thrill in Thriller, Romance Writing and interactive play writing. For readers there is the Biggest Book Club hour.
Public arenas offer performance poetry, music, readings and the opportunity to mix with regional and visiting authors. The venues are located within the Pier Marina complex and the Shangri-La Hotel situated directly on the Cairns Marina. Workshops and the Literary Dinner will attract a fee.
