International Museum Day at Austbuilt Maritime Museum 2008

Austbuilt Maritime Museum – the oldest maritime museum in South Australia – presents a display of artefacts, and photographs of our nautical past featuring Australian made shipping, together with the largest showing of model shipping on display in Adelaide. A display of photographs of shipping and entitled 'in port' has been gathered for this exhibition.

Delve into things nautical and become fascinated with the original parts of the ships that made Australia… the giant four-masted; wind-driven; wooden ships; steamers; the tramps; the ketches; the cargo vessels; the tankers; the tugs and lighters; fishing vessels, and the ships of war – there's more that a trace of each of them, and all awaiting your discovery. You can become engrossed in the charts, ship's bells, models, life preservers, harpoons and photographs, all displayed to intrigue and instruct.
