International Museum Day at Keswick Barracks 2008

The Army Museum of South Australia is part of the state’s social history. From the beginning it was the only state to be founded by free settlers and we have always had a strong link to the military. Many of the people who made our state what it is today served our nation in times of peace and in war.

Like a giant jigsaw puzzle the museum has been able to find and reconstruct the pieces from the past enabling people to walk though and relive many of the significant events that shaped our destiny. Each item in the museum touches the lives of the South Australians of yesteryear and each individual piece has it’s own unique story to tell.

A visit to the museum is a most rewarding experience. It’s far more than just a collection of military memorabilia; it is a window to the past. For those who chose to visit us there are tales of gallantry, mateship and humour and more. It will be the one of the most interesting and entertaining two hours that they are likely to spent in a long time.
