GORGE '09 is a bold, interactive, cabaret-style event held over three nights in a mini-festival of performance and the spoken word.
Three writers and six performance companies unveil their style and craft, revealing what makes them unique. Meet the artists, engage in conversation and witness the stage transform again and again as the writers’ words are performed by a startling array of actors, dancers, musicians and more, in exhilaratingly different interpretations. Its risk-taking and dangerous.
In keeping with the spirit of previous Gorge incarnations, the scripts are limited to a length of 10 minutes. In mid-September the co-directors matched the three scripts to the six companies – who are now each restricted to 40 hours rehearsal time on the floor to interpret and realise their allocated script.
There will be no interaction between the writers and companies during the process. The resulting presentations each night will be raw, immediate and wildly unpredictable!
