Life is Rhythm

Your toes will be tapping when Camut Band comes to town! Their energetic show Life is Rhythm mixing African percussion; tap dance, voice and sand dance will be performed as part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s Pivot(al) program, 8 and 9 October at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Direct from Barcelona, these rhythm ambassadors are original, fresh and full of energy, with every performer bringing years of dance, music, choreographic and acting experience to the stage.

Life is Rhythm builds on idea of rhythm as a primal force, having existed since the beginning of time and belonging to all mankind, regardless of race or country. The performance is comprised of several different parts which follow one another without a break, as dancers dance on drums and glide over sand, accompanied by percussionists on a variety of instruments, combined with hilarious interactions with one another and with the audience. Whether there is one or several of dancers onstage, there is a constant pounding beat and electric energy level that has to be seen to be believed.

Instruments used include piano, voice, djembe (a skin covered hand drum), earthenware pots, udu (a Nigerian vessel clay drum), bongos, metallic barrels and cajon (an Afro-Peruvian plywood box drum).

This high-energy performance will appeal to the whole family.
