World Group II First Round Federation Cup Tennis Tie

Adelaide will host the World Group II first round tie between Australia and Spain next February. The Fed Cup by BNP Paribas will be held at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on the 6 and 7 February 2010, the first time since 2001. Adelaide won the right to host the tie after some intense competition from a number of bids from around Australia.

Australia, who is seeded 14 in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, last met Spain in Tarragona in 2003 where they lost 3-2 in the World Group match-up.

This tie will see the likes of Samantha Stosur and Jelena Dokic take on Anabel Medina Garrigues and Carla Navarro Suarez from Spain in what should be a closely fought contest.
