Supreme Champion Sheepdog Trial 2009
The South Australian Working Sheepdog Association is hosting the 2009 Supreme Champion Sheepdog Trial, showcasing in excess of 200 of the best working dogs from all around Australia.
During the Supremes, each dog will attempt to move three sheep through a course of four obstacles with the least amount of points lost for allowing the sheep to stray off course or for failing to complete the course.
At the start of each trial, the dog is cast to gather three sheep and bring them back to the handler. The sheep are them moved, within a 10 metre corridor, around the course through a gap and a race, over a bridge and finally into a pen within a time limit of 15 minutes. The handlers are only allowed to assist the dogs by voice commands, whistles or signals.
