Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations
The Coonawarra Vignerons Association conceived this annual event - now in its twelfth year as a way of showcasing and celebrating the sheer quality of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and the craftsmanship of the region’s winemaking community.
Wineries throughout the region will be hosting over 30 cellar door events during the weekend with four major events hosted by the Coonawarra Vignerons Association. These events are as follows:
Friday 17 October, Retrospective Barrel Series Tasting, 4pm to 6pm at Zema Estate. Traditional Club Tea Night, from 6.30pm at Coonawarra Soldiers
Memorial Community Club.
Saturday 18 October, Coonawarra Masterclass, 10am to 12pm at Wynns Coonawarra Estate. Coonawarra Tutorial, 2pm to 3pm at The Poplars.
Sunday 19 October, Cabernet Brunch and Auction, 10.30am to 3.30pm at DiGiorgio Family Estate Wines.
The programme has changed this year to include a Retrospective Barrel Series Tasting on Friday night to start the Celebrations. Come and experience wines from the first (1996 vintage) and third (1998 vintage) Barrel Series Auctions and see how these amazing wines have matured over time.
We have something new for the novice wine lover as well, a Coonawarra Tutorial sampling the different Cabernets of the Coonawarra region and how to differentiate between them.
Sunday Brunch will now have a silent auction component along with a live auction encompassing unique and one-time-only Coonawarra-specific items. By popular demand, we have lengthened the event and will continue the festivities up until 3.30pm at DiGiorgio Family Wines.
