Land, Sand and Glass Exhibition at Palate 2 Palette
New Art Exhibition opens at Port Broughton Gallery - Restaurant.
The talents of established and emerging artists have combined in the latest exhibition at the newest restaurant and art gallery on the Yorke Peninsula, Palate 2 Palette, at Port Broughton.
Land, Sand and Glass, brings together the works of well known Moonta watercolour artist, Ron Wilson, Adelaide watercolour and acrylic artist and TAFE art lecturer, Margaret Tuckey, and emerging Adelaide glass artist, Ivana Di Stasio.
The new exhibition, which flows on from the successful six-week exhibition, Echoes of a Journey, by Bute artist Suzanne Brierley-Westall, shows the interconnection between artists and the land and how they relate to it, using different mediums.
Margaret Tuckey, who as an Adult Community Education Art Lecturer has inspired hundreds of people to paint, says her special interest is using the bright complementary colours of the natural world in a contemporary way to investigate her view of life and the world around us.
Award winning Moonta artist, Ron Wilson, tries to capture the many moods of light effects on York Peninsula beaches, dunes, rocks and jetty. His work resonates with the carefree activities of people enjoying these wonderful areas.
Ivana Di Stasio is rapidly gaining a reputation as a significant new talent in the art arena since she started creating exquisite glass art and jewellery in 2004. The dramatic effect she creates in her work shows a strong connection to the earth and sea and the elements of nature so vital to understanding the moods of the environment.
The exhibition will run until 5 July and the gallery is open to the public Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. It is also open on public holidays 10am to 5pm.
The gallery also features contemporary work by emerging Crafers artist, Wolfgang Guntner and Suzanne Brierley-Westall.
Palate 2 Palette, which is located at 6 Bay Street, offers a fresh innovative menu influenced by the tastes and flavours of Asia and Europe, fine wines, great coffee and good art, to provide a feast for all the senses.
