The sound of laughter will echo around Victoria as everyday women make new friends, regain a healthy fitness level and learn to play squash as part of Squash Vic's innovative 'Women in Squash: Learn to Play' program, affectionately known as 'Hits & Giggles'.
Run over six weeks, with a one hour coaching session each week, Hits & Giggles will introduce women and girls to the sport of Squash or Racquetball. Working on skills and fitness, participants will receive coaching designed to their fitness level, in a supportive and judgement-free environment, while boosting their self-confidence and self-esteem with a group of like minded women.
Hits & Giggles will give women and girls the opportunity to increase their strength and fitness, improve their general wellbeing and learn a new sport, all whilst enjoying the laughter and company of new and old friends.
It is a great initiative funded through Vic Health and is aimed at combating the state of women's health at the moment by getting women and girls back into sport.
It is perfect for women and girls of any age looking to take up a sport, particularly time poor ladies, and as our pilot program showed that the women enjoyed it as much for the fitness as it was for meeting new friends, the social aspect and feeling part of a community.
Hits & Giggles will be available at selected squash clubs throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
