One of the last remaining sand endurance circuits, the 5 kilometre St Helens track is located on Tasmania's beautiful east coast.
Every year the prevailing winds change the face of the circuit offering new challenges.
The track is marked out in an area set aside for recreational use and is split evenly between a super quick beach run before turning back for home through the dunes.
The event is a tough one held over two days of competition. Drivers who manage to see the end of the fifth heat on Sunday will have travelled some 500 kilometres to get to the chequered flag.
