Poatina Open Day Festival

A free family festival celebrating Poatina's birthday with plenty of activities for young and old
Poatina Open Day Festival has become a treasured social event, so relax and enjoy a fun day out.
The day is an open invitation for people to come and see all aspects of Poatina, from tourism to youth work, the Golden Chain Poatina Chalet, skills training areas, plus the Northern Midlands' own HeartFM community radio station, Trinity College, a developing Arts Colony and lots more.
Thousands of Tasmanians have treasured memories of this town that played a significant role in shaping their identities. In 2004 a "Back to Poatina" event provided a platform for the Hydro history to be remembered and celebrated. For the past 12 years, Poatina has created its own history through its approach to the well being of youth, training and tourism.
Poatina's annual Open Day is always relaxing and fun for the whole family. There is plenty of food and free festival activities for the children, including a jumping castle, face painting and Thomas rides. Visitors are invited to warm up by a blazing open fire at the Mountain View Restaurant, or stroll around the central business district to enjoy the art gallery, pottery studio or other enterprises. Free bus tours of the Village also give visitors an informative and easy way of seeing Poatina and an opportunity to learn more about its services to the broader community.
