Royal Hobart Regatta
The Royal Hobart Regatta is a range of aquatic and land events including yachts, motorboats, ferries, a family fun fair and fireworks
The Royal Hobart Regatta has been staged annually, and without a break (apart from 1967 when the disastrous bush fires caused its last minute cancellation) since 1838 and remains one of the largest aquatic carnivals in Australia.
The early colonists to Hobart enjoyed the fact that Hobart's setting allowed for an opportunity to celebrate the sea and the tradition still lives on strongly.
The Regatta includes three days of races and other water activities based on the Derwent River. Yachts, motorboats and ferries all participate in the Regatta with numerous viewing areas located around the river.
There is a large family oriented fun fair held on Regatta Point and a spectacular fireworks display concludes the festivities.
