Middleton Country Fair
The Middleton Country Fair in Tasmania's south is held annually on the first Saturday in February. It's main aim is to promote small businesses in the area.
On your way through the clean fresh country air of the Channel Highway, taking in the breath-taking sun lit water vista of the Channel and unique Bruny Island, you will become aware of Scarecrows on fences, in paddocks and up trees.
These are no ordinary scarecrows - you will note that they are rather lavishly and humorously attired - their job is not to scare crows but rather to win a competition - they are entries in the now famous Middleton Country Fair / Expo Scarecrow Competition.
Why? Because the Middleton Country Fair is about fun, fun, fun. Each year around 2,000 people attend - it's a real family day - over 70 stalls - crafts, tasty foods, plants, animal displays, trade displays, pony rides, sheep shearing, bands, performers, vintage, veteran and classic cars collection, raffles, kid's games - the list goes on and on - come and see for yourself.
