Franklin House Victorian Picnic
Victorian style picnic with outdoor music, Victorian games, tours of Franklin House, with food available.
In Victorian times when Launceston's Franklin House was first built, picnics were the height of fashion. Food ranged from lavish spreads for the wealthy to the more basic fare for the less fortunate who were only able to indulge during one of the rare holidays they received.
This year Launcestonians and visitors alike will have a unique opportunity to go back in time and experience a Victorian Picnic for themselves.
To be held on the day will include outdoor music, Victorian games such as hoop races and quoits for children to enjoy and an opportunity to explore the wonderful Franklin House and its extensive grounds.
Hampers with a selection of fine Tasmanian food will be available for purchase, but picnic goers are encouraged to bring their own modern or traditional fare to enjoy in the festive atmosphere.
